At Stanhope Barrington C of E Primary School we understand the importance of well-being and positive mental health. Through carefully selected age appropriate activities, which are incorporated into a curriculum, we hope to instill good mental health. Activities may include colouring, yoga, listening to relaxing music and other mindfulness projects. We have also had a mindfulness after school club where staff provided Lego, mindfulness colouring and yoga opportunities to promote well-being.
Recently we have recruited ‘Happiness Heroes’. These children (from across the school) meet every half-term. Their role is to identify children who may need a friend or someone to talk to during the school day. The last 18 months have been difficult and some children especially have struggled. Therefore, we hope to equip the children with strategies and activities to promote their own positive mental health.
5 ways to well-being:
- Connect with others
- Be active
- Take notice of our world
- Keep learning
- Give to others
