Why do I have a spare apple…?

…“ to thank you” God replied.

Did you make it to the church last Friday for the Harvest Festival service?

Lots of children enthusiastically and fluently recited their readings stood at the front of the church about a woman who had received 10 apples from God.  They were all brilliant and we say “Thank You”.

Harvest Festival reminds Christians of all the good things God gives them.  This makes them want to share with others who are not so fortunate.  There was an incredible display of food in our church too on Friday, which had been very kindly donated for the local food bank.  You were all brilliant and we say “Thank You”.

In the past…

Church bells could be heard on each day of the harvest.

The horse, bringing the last cart load, was decorated with garlands of flowers and colourful ribbons.

A magnificent Harvest feast was held at the farmer’s house and games played to celebrate the end of the harvest.

Harvest Festival is a celebration of the food grown on the land.

Harvest Festivals are traditionally held on or near the Sunday of the Harvest Moon.  This is the full moon that occurs closest to the autumn equinox, around 23rd September.

Now that the days are shorter and the weather has turned wet and windy, you might start to think about indoor activities for your children.  Here are some Harvest crafts to try.
