How can we build confidence?
On Monday Mrs Cross introduced this term’s element of our school vision – Confidence.
We talked about the key themes we will be looking at over the summer term including: responsibility, resilience, commitment, creativity, determination, being honest and imaginative.

On Wednesday we read the Bible Story David & The Giant based on 1 Samuel Chapter 8. We talked about the moral of the story in terms of Goliath being a huge problem but David thinking creatively about a solution.

On Friday we held our weekly celebration assembly where we celebrate Ambassador Certificates, Extra Special Awards, Dojo Certificates and special awards such as Sports Star, Musician, Artist and Breakfast Club competition winner.
Children were initially unsure about the meaning of some of the terminology.

Children understood the concept of Goliath representing a challenge or a problem in their own lives.

How can we show we are taking responsibility?
BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY

On Tuesday we talked about responsibility. We discussed taking responsibility for our actions but also stepping up and taking responsibility when something needed to be done. We talked about the difference and how challenging it was to ‘step up’ when no-one else is doing so.

We shared examples of when this is done in school.

On Wednesday the Open the Bible team delivered a fantastic performance called The Great Parade based on Matthew 21.
A number of children joined in and helped with the performance and the audience participated too.

On Thursday we had a whole school assembly to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of VE day.
We watched a video of a veteran talking about his experience of wartime and how he celebrated on VE Day. We celebrated with activities in each Learning Zone and a VE picnic lunch for everyone.

On Friday we held our celebration assembly where we awarded certificates and awards. We celebrated birthdays and out of school achievements too.
The children have a good understanding of taking responsibility.

The children initially struggled to understand how stepping up is also taking responsibility they think it is just about owning up.
The children thoroughly engaged with the performance this week.

Week 3 (Beginning 12.05.25)

No Collective Worship this week due to SATs week

Week 4 (Beginning 19.05.25)

Confidence: Resilience

INTENT (19.05.25)IMPLEMENTATIONIMPACT
19.05.25
What is resilience?
On Monday Mrs Cross introduced this week’s theme of resilience.
We read the story of Noah’s Ark from Genesis Ch 6&7.
We talked about how resilient Noah had to be when all of his neighbours were laughing at him yet he still did the right thing.
We discussed the story of the Persistent Widow and how she didn’t give up fighting for justice.
We linked this to fights for justice and to have voices heard today in our society and used an example of BGT and the singer who had spent 23 years trying to get an audition with Simon Cowell but has finally achieved his dream.
On Wednesday our Open The Bible team came into school and delivered a performance called An Important Meal based on Mark 14.
Along with the children, they performed the story of the Last Supper and we talked about how difficult that meal must have been for everyone concerned and how resilient they had to be.

On Friday we celebrated our successes with certificates and awards issued for Sports Star of the Week, Artist of the Week, Breakfast Club Art Competition etc along with the Learning Zone Ambassador of the week awards.
The children were able to link the story with our theme of resilience. It was lovely to hear them empathise with how hard everyone must have found it.
