As you know the summer holidays are nearly upon us and all the children are ready for the upcoming adventures they will have. We hope that you keep up your child’s enthusiasm for reading. Here are a few ideas you might like to try:
- Visiting your local Library – Wolsingham Library have a 6 book challenge you can take part in. Or just visit it to choose from the wide selection of children’s books.
- Internet fun – visit the websites of authors which have blogs, interviews and new releases.
- Out and about – encourage your child to read signs, articles and leaflets.
- Cooking/shopping – children can read out instructions or lists that can help you out too.
- In the news – encourage your child to read newspaper articles. There are a number of children specific newspapers and magazines.
- Read with a family member – read to people visiting or with an older sibling.
- Space – enjoy the space and freedom to read at any time of the day. Read in the garden, in a tent, or snuggled up on the couch.
- Fun – make reading fun and enjoy sharing that special time with your child.
Your child will bring home a selection of reading books from school. Please feel free to ask for more, or visit the local library.
Happy reading!
