In the summer term we had a young student called Andrew Turnbull in and he decided to write his account of our school during his time with us.
“As a young trainee teacher conducting a two week work placement, I visited Stanhope Barrington with the initial generic anxieties of being unwelcome, excluded, and disengaged. However, these worries were quickly forgotten as I was made to feel extremely welcome by both the wonderful staff and students of this school!
The teachers were warm, friendly, and extremely helpful; often providing me with advice and experiences that have helped to enrich and advance my knowledge of teaching. These teachers clearly love what they do and the results speak for themselves in the success and attitudes of their students. The hardworking support staff were more than happy to allow me to assist and engage in the ongoing activities inside and outside lessons and were perceived, to me, to be a fundamental cornerstone of the success of the school. Mr Myers emulates everything the school stands for and the respect that students clearly have for their headteacher, and all staff, for that matter, is a result of the caring, supportive, and facilitative environment that is created. The school does an excellent job of ensuring a complete and diverse education for its students that will undoubtedly prepare them for all of life’s endeavours.
Finally, arguably the greatest asset the school holds… the STUDENTS! From nursery to Year 6 these have to be some of the kindest, friendliest, liveliest, and hardworking children I’ve had the pleasure of working with across all my previous placements, and what better way to highlight this than the fact that I was able to learn the names of almost every student in the school in just two weeks! Their confidence and friendliness was inspiring. The highlights of my experience include the wonderful welcome I received from students EVERY morning, the appreciation shown when I offered help or advice, and the smiling faces throughout the school day all of which have further cemented my already keen passion to teach!
Thank you Stanhope Barrington it was a pleasure!”
