Anti-Bullying Assembly by Diamond Learning Zone

This morning we held a child led assembly for the whole school and parents on the topic of Anti-Bullying.
Our Year 6 children gave a fantastic performance using scenarios to get the message across that if we all stand together we can make the world a better place.
They linked the message to the school’s vision of KFC (Kindness, Fellowship and Confidence) and delivered a very meaningful and impactful assembly.
Thank you to all of the parents/carers who came along to support our school and our children.
Children in Need
Supporting Sara Cox & Children In Need
What a wonderful day we had yesterday (11.11.25)! Sara Cox (Radio 2 DJ) ran through Stanhope on her Northern Marathon to raise money for Children In Need.
The entire school lined the main road to lend their support, with staff wearing fancy dress and children chanting and holding up banners and posters. We were all extremely excited to welcome Sara to Stanhope and gave her a brilliant Weardale Welcome to the Dale.
Thank you to everyone who came along. A fundraising bucket will be on the school gate on Friday morning if anyone would like to make a cash donation.

Stanhope Barrington Remembers
On Tuesday 11th November we held our annual Remembrance Service in school. We began by watching a BBC video about Remembrance and then each Learning Zone laid their wreaths on the stage.
We then joined the nation and the world in a 2 minute silence. Our children were extremely respectful and understood the importance of the event.
We ended the service by listening to the haunting music of The Last Post.
I was incredibly proud of all of our children who showed respect and knew how poignant and important the service was.

World Mental Health Day
On Friday 10th October 2025, we held a Mental Health Breakfast with our children, parents, family members and staff in our EYFS unit. Mrs Johnson, our Vice Chair of the Academy Council also attended and thoroughly enjoyed the event. She said “It is wonderful to see the level of support parents have for our school”.
Everyone brought something to share at our ‘shared breakfast table’ and we had a huge range of lovely healthy food choices. Children and adults all enjoyed not just their breakfast but also enjoyed this special time together.
The whole school took part in making sunflowers on which they wrote ideas and suggestions to share with others about what makes them happy and how we can manage our own mental health. All of the sunflowers will be made into a huge display in the school hall.

Celebrating Harvest
On Friday 3rd October 2025 we had a fantastic Harvest Festival in St Thomas’ Church in Stanhope. It was lovely to see so many of our families there to support our school and children. Each Learning Zone performed something different ranging from our youngest children singing the Dingling Dangling Scarecrow to our older children telling us about farming in the UK and telling the story of The King and the Seed. Of course, no Harvest would be complete without The Big Red Combine Harvester!
Thank you to everyone who generously donated food – every item is being donated the Weardale Food Bank.
Apple Day in EYFS
On Tuesday 30th September 2025, we welcomed parents, grandparents and volunteers into our Early Years Unit for an Apple Day. The challenge was to pick apples from our school apple trees and use the available ingredients to make apple pies and crumbles. We were delighted with the number of families who got involved and came along to the event.
At the end of the school day our families were invited to a tasting session to try out the amazing baking. Everyone had an amazing time and this was a lovely activity for Harvest using our own produce from the school grounds.

MacMillan Cancer Coffee Event
On Friday 26th September 2025, we held our annual MacMillan Cancer Coffee event and raised a magnificent £205.64.
Thank you so much to everyone who came along and supported the event. Our Happiness Heroes (one of our pupil voice groups) manned the cake stall and did a great job at encouraging everyone to spend their money! Thanks also to the volunteers who served refreshments throughout the afternoon.
The event was attended by children, parents, grandparents, staff and Academy Councillors and it was so lovely to see everyone come together to support this important charity.

Rock Steady Rocks Stanhope Barrington
On Thursday 18th September, Rock Steady visited our school and gave an awesome performance on drums, electric guitars and keyboard. The children had a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed this music session.
Rock Steady are offering tuition on a Tuesday morning to children who would like to join our band. The children brought home a letter detailing how to register via the Rock Steady Portal.
Our Teachers joined in giving an amazing performance of We Will Rock You! Watch the video below and look out for Mr Tathan on guitar, Mrs Parvin on drums and Miss Excell on keyboard.
What a fantastic way to start the new school year!
Stanhope Show Art Competition
During our Transition Days in July our children all completed artwork for Stanhope Show’s special art competition especially for our school.
The categories ranged from Naure to Primary Colours to art in the style of Paul Klee.
The artwork created a fantastic display in the Industrial tent and we have had lots of lovely comments from visitors who have admired our budding artists.
