Our Vision:
A place where our children, adults and community can grow and thrive rooted in Kindness, Fellowship and Confidence.
At Stanhope Barrington C of E Primary school, we provide an expressive and creative music curriculum that allows all children to access it with confidence and enjoyment. Music is used to express and emote feelings and we actively encourage children to participate and become passionate about the music and sounds they can create. We explore different cultures and composers to give the children a real breadth of experiences and opportunities. Engaging children in musical performances, from a range of local groups and talented parents, gives opportunities to develop skills and a passion for the enjoyment of listening to music. Different music genres are used across the school, in lessons, to set the mood and tempo of a lesson, showing the power and effect music can have. Children use a range of instruments to begin to explore rhythm and sounds and to play collectively in a group, developing the key skills that this involves. Children are taught to read musical notation and compose their own music. Music plays a key role in our collective worship and assemblies, allowing the children to sing as a united group and as part of the wider community.
