On Friday 17th June class 3 took part in a workshop delivered by the Centre For Life all about space. The project is funded as part of a government initiate to raise awareness of science in space and is linked to the work Major Tim Peake has been involved with on the European Space Station.
Initially the children explored how rockets are made and the science behind aerodynamics, they then launched their rockets and measured how far they had travelled. After improving their designs the test was repeated to see if the adaptations had made a difference.
After lunch the children had a fantastic opportunity to visit the inflatable planetarium. It was huge and dark and fascinating. Inside they could see the constellations and planets in our solar system.
This was a really exciting workshop for the children to take part in.
