Volunteer Police Cadet Scheme

Durham Constabulary Volunteer Police Cadets focuses on the development of young people between the ages of 11 and 17 across County Durham and Darlington.

The ultimate aim of the Volunteer Police Cadets is to encourage the spirit of adventure and good citizenship, while inspiring young people to develop knowledge and understanding of the policing role to ultimately participate positively in their local community.

The scheme is designed to be engaging, enjoyable, fun and ultimately developmental for all the participating young people.

Some of the key objectives of the Programme

  • demonstrate an increase in self-confidence/self-esteem
  • show how to utilise the principles of self-discipline
  • explain how to maintain health and wellbeing for themselves and others
  • demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the basic employability skills required to progress into further education/employment
  • show individual skills as a leader by being a role model and supporting and developing others

We are currently seeking interest, applications and new recruits from current Year 6 pupils who will imminently be moving to their respective Secondary School setting to commence Year 7.
