Celebrating 140 years of the Mother’s Union

On Tuesday 31st May 2016 two of our children, Bonnie Gillow and Elizabeth Leadbitter, carried a banner at a special service at Durham Cathedral to celebrate 140 years of the Mother’s Union.

Our local church, St. Thomas’ Mother’s Union asked if we would run a competition for children to design a banner for their branch to use at this special service. The entries were given to the Mother’s Union and they chose Bonnie’s design as the winner.

A number of children then took part in making the banner over the course of a few weeks.

Bonnie and Elizabeth then had the honour of carrying the banner at Durham Cathedral, supported by members of their family. It was a wonderful experience for the two girls.
