How do we feel coming back to school?Monday – School Holiday
Tuesday – Training Day
Wednesday – Training Day

On Thursday Mrs Cross welcomed everyone back to school.

We talked about how we felt this morning. It is ok to feel worried or anxious, it is ok to feel excited and this is the same for the adults in school too.
We discussed our school vision of KFC and what each letter stands for.

Mrs Cross introduced our new way to remember our Spirituality Triangle. We are using the acronym JOY to represent Jesus, Others and You. We will be considering our weekly value linked to Kindness this term through this lens.
There was no Celebration Assembly due to only being back one day.
Children’s behaviour in the hall was exemplary including our new Reception.

Children could readily recall our school vision.

Different children could identify with different feelings about coming back to school.

How can we show compassion? On Monday Mrs Cross introduced this week’s value of compassion.

We talked about National Fun Fair Month and discussed our GRTSB Pledge. We linked this to Stanhope Show which is on this weekend.

We watched a video called “I am a Showman” and talked about how children of the Show community receive their education.

On Wednesday we welcomed our Open the Bible team back to school. They delivered a wonderful performance of The Helper Arrives from Pentecost  Act 2.
The story told of the Jesus sending the Holy Spirit to teach his people different languages so that the Good News could be spread. We talked about the concept of ‘helpers’ and who helps the children and how important it is to have a trusted adult and people you trust and who can show compassion to you.

On Friday we held our weekly celebration assembly. Certificates were awarded for Learning Zone Ambassadors of the Week along with special certificates for Sports Star and Artist of the Week.

Class Dojo certificates were given out and we celebrated Alice’s success in her BMX trials.

We celebrated this week’s birthdays and had a joyful assembly.
Children were unsure of the definition of compassion which will need to be reinforced throughout the week.
They were very interested to learn about the Showman community and came up with some great questions they would like to ask.

The performance was interactive with a number of children taking on roles as People of the World.

We linked this story to our concept of JOY.
Children sang beautifully with enthusiasm and were pleased for their peers who won awards.
Certificates were given for showing compassion this week which was great to see.

Week 3 (Beginning 15.09.25)

Kindness: Caring

INTENT (15.09.25)IMPLEMENTATIONIMPACT
What does it mean to care?On Monday Mrs Cross introduced this week’s value of caring.

We talked about what it means to be caring and how that links to us being kind to others.

We read the story of The Good Samaritan from Luke Ch10. We then discussed why the Holy Man and the Levite walked away and did not help the injured man.

On Wednesday we heard the story of The Lost Sheep and talked about how every single one of us is important to each other and to God.

We watched an animation of the story and discussed how we can care for Jesus, Others and Yourself and linked this to our triangle of JOY.

On Friday we celebrated success with certificates and awards for our Learning Zone Ambassadors and Extra Special awards. We also celebrated birthday and presented the winners of the Stanhope Show Art Competition.
In addition, we launched our ‘Not School Rules’ which is basically a statement about us being a Kind School.
It was really good to see some children already making the link with our triangle of JOY (Jesus, Others and You).

Children gave lovely examples of how we can show others that we care about them.
They also knew how to care for themselves both physically and mentally.

The children understood the concept of Not School Rules and we talked about being the best people we could be rather than imposing rules.
It was great to hear the children using the terminology later that same day.

Week 4 – 22-09-2025

Autumn Term 1

Element of Vision: Kindness

Weekly Value/Focus: Supportive

Intent Question:Implementation:Impact:
Week commencing Monday 22.09.2025   How can we support others? On Monday Mrs Cross introduced this week’s value of being supportive. We talked about what it means to be supportive and children did some pair/share talk about how the school supports others. We listened to the story of the paralysed man from Mark’s Gospel Ch 12 V1-12. This story had been turned into a poem which the children enjoyed. We had some reflection time about how we could be more supportive in school. On Wednesday the Open the Bible team delivered a performance of Tabitha Wakes Up. This story from 1st Christians Acts 9 told of how Tabitha supported people in her community who were worse off than herself by making them new clothes. On Friday we celebrated the week’s successes with our Certificates and Awards. Many of the certificates were given out to children who have lived and breathed our value this week.  The children’s pair/share talk identified lots of things we do as a school to support others including raising money for charities, supporting the local foodbank, visiting Crosshill Nursing Home and lots more.   Our children were able to identify who in the story had been supportive and how. It was great to see our children supporting each other

It was great to see so many examples of children living and breathing this week’s value of being thoughtful.
A number of certificates this week were for this reason.
