Annual Outdoor Remembrance Service

On Friday 10th November 2017, our children, staff, governors, parents and members of our community, joined together to reflect and remember those who gave their lives for ours.

The service was held on the back field, where the children gathered around the Remembrance Oak Tree (donated by the Weardale Society) and our Remembrance Stone. Each class lay a wreath at the base of the tree. The children in Class 3 read out the story of James McCudden, who was an Ace Flying Pilot in World War I and who was killed three weeks before the end of the war at the age of 23. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for Valour and two DSO’s.

World War I poems were then read out by Bonnie, Daisy, Phoebe and Georgia which were incredibly moving.

The service ended with the school prayer.
