Highlights Rural Craft Tour (Part Two)

On Friday 23rd October 2015 all of our children visited St. Thomas’ Church Hall to see this year’s Highlights Rural Craft Tour. The children were encouraged to feel the materials used by the artists which ranged from leather to willow to stone. The children learnt about the different artists, how they work with their own media and what inspired them to take up a career in art. Each group of children then took part in a workshop, led by Mark Rowney, and contributed to the production of a piece of artwork in leather. Every single child made a contribution to the artwork and the resulting piece will be framed and displayed in school once the exhibition is over.

We  are very keen to continue to be involved in the Highlights Rural Craft Tour and take part every year with a focus on a different artists and a different medium. In the past our children have worked with felting, quilting and photography. Offering these opportunities to our children is an important part of our wide and varied curriculum.
