On the first day of Stanhope Show, Stanhope Silver Band march down the main road leading the procession to the show field. For safety, this must be managed by the police and the road must be closed. Stanhope Silver Band are required to pay for this. Stanhope Barrington’s Social Action Team have decided to support the Stanhope Silver Band by helping to raise money for this important tradition.
On Friday, 13 July 2018 the Social Action Team were at the Market Cross with a giant BAND sign ready to accept the silver coins from the public to cover the letters. The children were also posted at the entrance to the school Sports Day event to raise money. Thank you to everyone who donated their silver to this worthy local cause. So far, £177 has bee raised.
