On Sunday, 24 June 2018, the Friends of Stanhope Barrington C of E Primary School hosted a hugely successful Summer Fair. The fair raised an amazing £1, 320.41! All of the money raised goes towards subsidising school trips and other exciting learning opportunities for each pupil at Stanhope Barrington.
The support from the local community was outstanding including the Fire Brigade, Police and the Weardale Adventure Centre among many others. There was afternoon tea, ice cream, cake stalls, face painting, a nail bar, plant sale, clothing sale and a penalty shoot out. Everyone shared a good laugh when throwing wet sponges at Mr Myers, Dean Tinkler and PCSO Ross, who each took a turn in the stocks. There were wonderful dance displays and live music, and a fantastic raffle that included vouchers for Beamish Museum, Weardale Adventure Centre, Buon Appetito and Bowlees Visitor Centre to name just a few. The children enjoyed the bouncy castle, inflatable obstacle course and inflatable slide.
The weather could not have been better and the community spirit was felt by all who attended this amazing day.
A very special thanks goes to all of the dedicated organisers, volunteers, community, businesses and everybody who attended and supported this wonderful event.
