Confidence…

As I write this, I can hear the children outside celebrating the Royal Wedding with that great British tradition of a good old fashioned Street Party: long tables adorned with bunting and Union flags. There are sausage rolls, strawberries, sandwiches and homemade cakes, and jugs of juice and water. The sun is streaming down and the children are decked out in red, white and blue. It is a beautiful sight.

During Summer Term, as part of our KFC (Kindness, Fellowship, Confidence) initiative, we will be focusing on confidence. There will be a variety of opportunities to, and lessons on, developing confidence amongst the pupils of Stanhope Barrington C of E Primary School.

As Meghan Markle (the new Duchess of Sussex) entered St. George Chapel in Windsor on Saturday she stood alone. She walked up the aisle solo in front of 1.9 billion viewers from around the world. She was poised, graceful, smiling and quietly confident. This Street Party today is celebrating the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan but perhaps it is also a celebration of a woman who embodies a quiet confidence. Perhaps the Duchess of Sussex, through her gentle bravery, will become a role model for the children on their own personal journeys to become confident adults.
