Why?
Why do you hurt me?
What did I do?
Is it because I’m smaller than you?
I play the piano but that can’t be why.
Is it my singing? I really do try.
Perhaps it’s because of the way I look?
Or is it because I read a book?
When we were together, I used to smile
And weren’t we the very best friends for a while?
I try to be brave but sometimes I cry.
I say I’m okay- well, that’s just a lie.
Mummy can see that a friendship’s gone bad.
We have a hug and a chat and I don’t feel so sad.

Within assemblies this week, the children have been thinking about the anti-bullying campaign which is run every year by Anti-Bullying Alliance, Power for Good.
It is important for our children to understand the ways in which they are powerful to stop bullying by encouraging positive action and create the best world possible.
It is important for us as parents to support our children with issues relating to bullying and work together with our school to stop bullying.
It is important for us all to value the difference we can make in a child’s life. We can all take individual and collective action to prevent bullying and create safe environments where children can thrive.
The United Nations promote International Day of Tolerance which takes place every year on 16th November. It is respect and appreciation of the rich variety of our world’s cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human. Tolerance recognises the universal human rights and fundamental freedoms of others. People are naturally diverse; only tolerance can ensure the survival of mixed communities in every region of the globe.
