Our children deserve the best…

Since our last Ofsted inspection in April 2013 when we were awarded ‘Outstanding Status’ in all areas, we have constantly been inspected by County and Government Officials to ensure we continue to educate our children in the best way possible to enable them to fulfil their potential. Only a very small amount of schools ever reach Grade 1, ‘Outstanding’ status and an even smaller amount are able to maintain ‘Outstanding’ as targets and demands on schools constantly change.

This academic year alone we have had 8 inspections from Health and Safety, Finance, Early Years Education, and many more all carried out with very limited warning. In addition, teaching standards, curriculum choice and levels, school data, school website and parent complaints, comments and suggestions have all been rigorously scrutinised to ensure we understand the expectations for our school to remain an ‘Outstanding’ place to learn.

I am delighted to inform you that last week I received notification from the Head of Education for County Durham saying all evidence confirms that we continue to be an ‘Outstanding’ school in all areas. This is fantastic news and a great achievement because for the 3rd year running, we have been recognised for the wonderful work we do, our adaptation to change and our continued commitment to deliver education of the highest quality.

I am so proud of our children, staff, governors and parents for making our school one of the very best in the country. To be the very best requires support, understanding, high standards, commitment, desire but most of all a fantastic team. Our school staff are brilliant, however I consider our team to be the whole community because without the hard work and constant support from everyone in our part of Weardale we would be like 95% of all schools in the country and be good, adequate or worse.   Once again, many thanks for your support and commitment to our school, we will always strive to be the best, our children deserve it.
