Outdoor Remembrance Service

On Friday 11th November 2016, we held our annual Outdoor Remembrance Service. As always, the service was well attended by parents, grandparents, staff, governors and children.

The service began with Class 2 explaining how they had learnt about the poem Flanders Field by John McCrae and as a result had created some amazing artwork. Examples of the artwork were laid before our Remembrance stone while Bonnie G. read the poem aloud.

Next Sam E. read The Sentry by Wilfred Owen and Lucas W. read My Old Chum which appeared in The Wipers Times.

Having learnt about war poetry, Class 3 had written their own poems and some of these were read out by members of the class.

Hayden L. then signalled the beginning of the two minutes silence at 11am. Everyone stood respectfully and quietly during the two minutes and then Reception and Nursery children laid their poppies; followed by Class 1 laying their crosses and finally Class 1A laying their large cross made by the whole class.

The service ended with a lovely prayer read by Olivia M.

We Will Remember.
